	SURROUNDINGS "Calfour ... Timeless Beauty ..." Calfour is situated within a thirty five acre estate opposite a twenty five acre hazelnut orchard with river frontage and excellent fishing. The woodlands that surround the land on three sides are hosts to a range of wildlife. Red squirrel, deer and kestrels are frequent visitors, and in spring there is an abundance of wild orchids. Calfour is situated on the south-facing side of the beautiful Dropt Valley which is located in an unspoilt region at the southernmost tip of the Dordogne and is less than three kilometres from Eymet and 25 kilometres from Bergerac. A typical Perigordine bastide town, dating back to the twelfth century, Eymet has shops and a supermarket. There are also bars and restaurants in which you can enjoy the balmy summer evenings. The city of Bergerac is divided by the Dordogne, one of the most beautiful rivers in France. Bergerac is renowned throughout France for its food and wine. Bergerac is an ideal place to stop off whilst travelling west from Périgueux to Bordeaux. As well as being renowned for fields of sunflowers, this is also a vast wine producing region. Many local vineyards sell direct to the public and offer free wine tasting locally. And a visit to the chateau and vineyards at Monbazillac, twenty minutes away, is well worth it. Calfour is ideally placed for exploring the medieval villages and chateaux of the Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne and for leisurely trips on both the Dordogne and Vezere rivers.
